Day trip from Sapporo
Jozankei is a hot spring area located in the south of Sapporo. It takes about one hour from Sapporo city center by local bus. A lot of hotels and the hot spring facilities accept the day trip bathing.
There is a day trip package ticket for Jozankei. This ticket includes return bus tickets from Sapporo station to Jozankei, and fee for a hot spring one-day use. You can choose one facility of hot spring in Jozankei.
LAKE TOYA
洞爺湖
Lake Toya is the third biggest crater lake in Japan. There are two volcanoes around the lake. Toya area is the geopark, so you can know the volcanoes deeply.
Toya is famous of hot spring. Some hotels accept to use their facilities for day visitors. Some art sculptures are along the lakeside, so walking along lakeside is also nice.
LAKE SHIKOTSU
支笏湖
This lake is a caldera lake that belonged in the Shikotsu Toya National Park and was enclosed by mountains. Some of the mountains, like Mt.Tarumae, Mt.Eniwa, have a lava dome.
Lake Shikotsu is an ice-free lake which is located in the northernmost of Japan.
Noboribetsu is hot spring which is ranked high in the hot springs ranking every year. There is a picturesque scenery called "JIGOKU DANI (hell valley)". It is possible to see craters which are volcanic gas and hot spring from underground.
Around Noboribetsu hot spring, there are some amusement facilities. Jidai-Mura is one of the recommended place. Jidai-Mura will take you back to Edo era.
Bus tour
Though reservation in advance is necessary, there are many bus tour (sightseeing bus) from Sapporo. It eliminate the need to think of transportation, you can go around some sightseeing spots easily.
